About InQuiry : UTPA's First-Year Composition Magazine

This is collective of just some of the work being developed by students in their first year of writing at UTPA as well as those working closely with them toward developing bigger and we hope better understandings of writing. We’re just getting started, but we have big hopes for this space! So let’s get to it!

Our Goal:

The people here at Inquiry are students just like you. We all have the different jobs and we all come collectively to put this website together. We help each other out trying our best to be able to create something that will interest our readers. We explored different topics that we wished ourselves to have known ahead of time. Along with reading people submissions about thing they want us to write about. And we establish our values to be creative and explore and understand the new information around our campus for the incoming students website has been established since 2014 and is running strong in 10 years now. Our mission is to keep people informed especially the new incoming students and transfers that are welcome her at UTRGV.

Our Audience:

  • Students! If you’re interested in featuring your work here please email your submissions to bmgarciaz@utpa.edu. What will we take? Your options are nearly boundless here. Have a cool strategy guide you developed for your fellow classmates to better navigate the treacherous road that is research? Submit it! Have a cool piece of writing that explores a misconception about reading? Submit it! Have a collective of photos of your FYC class in action this past week? Submit it! Been keeping a video blog chronicling your thoughts on your reading, writing or research development? Submit it! I could go on!

Are we limiting your work to focus on literacy, it’s processes and development? No. We will however, ask for a short explanation of your reading or writing process/development as you competed whatever cool piece you do submit!

  • Teachers! Do you have students who are developing/producing some really neat projects this semester? Encourage them to submit! Do you want to develop a whole class project or participate by submitting pictures? We encourage you! Want to work with a student to refine her submission? Go for it! Instructor mentoring and encouragement are essential to our students’ development and our cause in featuring and publishing student work here on InQuiry!

Interested in getting involved or developing an area of content better suited to feature your students work? Contact me! We’re always looking to diversify our editorial board or just get a little feedback!

  • TAs! You’ve been navigating an equally exciting path as you develop strategies and lessons! Are you especially proud of an activity or theory behind a practice you’ve developed? Submit it and reach more students! Want to create a collective of strategies for your fellow TAs? Submit it! Again, the possibilities are virtually endless here!
